The Golaghat Engineering College has witnessed a crisis situation as the 4th Grade employees of the college have staged a protest against non-payment of their salaries.
On Friday, the 3-day-long protest entered the second day.

The agitating employees said they are yet to get their salaries for the last 17 months.
They said as the college authorities have failed to release the pending salaries they had no option but to take the agitational path.
Since Thursday, a total of 24 Fourth Grade employees of Golaghat Engineering College have continued “cease-work” as a protest against the non-release of their salaries.

Due to non-payment of salaries, the 4th Grade employees of the college have faced a massive financial crisis to run their families and meet the daily expenditures.
These employees also worked at the Covid centre set up in the college premises during the pandemic.
The employees have urged the government and the college authorities to release their pending salaries for 17 years with immediate effect.
They have threatened that they would launch a democratic agitation if their salaries are not released as early as possible.
The Golaghat Engineering College was set up in 2018 by the Assam government.
The foundation day of the college was laid on March 31, 2012 by then chief minister Tarun Gogoi, which was proposed by the Assam government officially.
