The Assam unit of the CPM on Saturday refused to record its poll speech after it was censored by Prasar Bharati.

The speech was to be broadcast through Doordarshan Kendra in Guwahati, according to reports.

The Assam state committee of the CPM said that the poll speech of the party had been sent to Doordarshan Kendra for vetting as per norms but was heavily censored.

Senior CPM leader Ajit Das who went to the Doordarshan Kendra to record the speech said that Prasar Bharati had always invited the party earlier to record their speeches to be aired during elections.

He also said that the party’s poll speeches had never faced censorship as it is facing at present.

CPM secretary Deben Bhattacharya also said that earlier when they launched verbal attacks against their rival parties in their speeches it was never censored.

As per reports, the CPM was asked to delete their remarks on Rafale scandal and BJP from their poll speech.

One part of the censored speech stated , “After corruption charges were levelled against the Prime Minister on corruption and scam pertaining to the Rafale fighter jets’ procurement, BJP government’s corruption and depravity has been revealed before the people.”

Another part of the censored speech stated that government’s communal politics has carried an immense threat to the country’s unity and harmony.

The CPM’s remarks on the BJP had also been censored. The party remarked that the five year rule of the BJP government has destroyed the four fundamental pillars of the Constitution which includes secular democracy, economic self-reliance, social justice and federal structure.

CPM’s criticism of AGP joining NDA before the Lok Sabha polls had also been censored.
