On the day when Assam’s overall COVID19 tally stands at 16,806, a total of 522 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from hospitals across the state on Monday.

Sharing the good news in his latest tweet on Assam’s COVID19 status, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said:  “Discharge Alert. 522 patients discharged today in Assam. Stay alert. Stay fit. Stay hopeful Sparkles.”

With the release of the 522 patients on Monday, the total number of COVID19 patients discharged from various hospitals across Assam increased to 11,416.

Assam currently has 4,347 active COVID19 cases.

In a tweet at 9.22 pm on Monday, health minister Sarma informed that 4 more persons in Assam have died of COVID19 infections.

The COVID19 victims include 31-year-old Uttam Das, a resident of Golaghat, 62-year-old Keshab Kumar Barua, a resident of Kamrup (M), 30-year-old Kartik Kalita (30) of Kamrup (M) and 56-year-old Dr. Jahan Iqbal Ahmed, an Associate Professor of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Sarma said.

Northeast Now at 4.06 pm on Monday reported the death of Dr Jahan Iqbal Ahmed, who is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at GMCH, due to infection and now the death has been confirmed by the state health minister.

According to the data, shared by health minister Sarma, the deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 40 people in Assam.
