On the day when Assam’s COVID19 tally stands at 52,817, a total of 1,332 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals across the state on Thursday.

Sharing the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said: “Discharge Alert. 1332 patients have been discharged today..”

“More than thousand recoveries in a day again! Great job, team doctors,” the health minister said while lauding the doctors.

With the release of these patients, the total number of discharged patients in Assam has increased to 37,224.

Assam currently has 15,464 active patients.

On Thursday, Assam registered 2,372 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 52,817.

Confirming the news, health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet said the new positive cases have been detected out of 55,671 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

The health minister said Assam’s positivity rate stands at 4.25%.

Sarma informed that of the new positive cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 470 cases, Nagaon has reported 197 cases, 163 cases have been reported from Cachar, 128 cases have been detected in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia has reported 122 cases and 104 new positive cases have been detected in Jorhat.

With the demise of 5 more positive patients due to COVID19 infections in Assam, the state’s death toll increased to 126 on Thursday.

Sharing the news, health minister Sarma said the victims are from Karimganj, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Kamrup Metro districts.

The COVID19 victims have been identified as 50-year-old Asab Uddin and 70-yar-old Sentulal Saha from Karimganj district; 63-year-old Manuranjan Paul from Dibrugarh district; 77-year-old Ram Surat Gowala from Tinsukia district and 55-year-old Dhiren Kalita from Kamrup Metro district.
