On the day when Assam’s COVID19 tally increased to 31,086 with detection of 1,165 new cases on Saturday, 1,294 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from the hospitals across the state.

Sharing the news, Assam health minister in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said: “Discharge Alert. 1,294  patients are discharged today.”

The health minister said on Saturday, the number of discharged patients surpassed the number of positive patients detected in Assam.

“Today is yet another good day as number of those discharged is again higher than new cases. All please take care,” health minister Sarma said.

With the release of 1,294 patients, the total number of discharged patients in Assam has increased to 23,055.

Assam currently has 7,951 active cases while 3 cases migrated from the state.

The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 77 people in Assam.

On Saturday, a 65-year-old man died of COVID19 infection at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

Confirming the news, health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet on Saturday said the positive patient, who succumbed to COVID19 infection, has been identified as Ranjit Baidya, a resident of Nagaon.
