Assam has registered 1,348 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 33,576.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister in a tweet on Monday night said a total of 21,742 COVID19 tests were conducted in Assam in the last 24 hours, out of which 1,348 were found positive for the virus.
“Alert ~ 1348 new #COVID cases ( Guwahati – 155 ) detected in Assam out of 21742 tests done in last 24 hours,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
“Our low positivity rate of 6.19% is encouraging,” Sarma added.
With the new positive cases, Assam currently has 9,447 active cases.
Earlier, a total of 24,040 patients were discharged from various hospitals across Assam after they tested negative.
With the demise of 7 more patients due to COVID19 infections on Monday, the death toll in the state increased to 86.
Health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet said the deaths were reported from Jorhat, East Karbi Anglong, Kamrup Metro, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.
The deceased have been identified as Tulsi Prasad Deuri, 59, from Jorhat; Joy Singh Bey, 59, from East K Anglong; Mevina Begum, 26, from Kamrup Metro; Dr GMS Chowdhury, 72, from Dibrugarh; Ajoy Mahato, 35, Puspa Roy, 75 and Dinesh Chandra Das, 50, from Tinsukia district, the health minister informed.
