Assam: COVID19 positive cases surge to 33 in Dima Hasao

Dima Hasao district has registered 26 new COVID19 positive cases including a minor, taking the hiss district’s total tally to 33.

The samples of the new cases were found positive for COVID19 during tests at the Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH), test results of which were announced on Wednesday night.

“The total number of positive cases surged to 33 in Dima Hasao, out of which 7 are discharged after they were tested negative twice,” the directorate of information &public relations, Haflong, said in a statement on Thursday.

Joint director of health services, Dr. Dipali Barman said, “All the new patients are asymptomatic and are not complaining of any sort of illness as of now.”

The patients’ age group is found raging mostly between 18 to 30 years besides one 3-year-old minor.

As per the district surveillance officer, Dr. L Veiphai, around 240 numbers of samples are yet to arrive from the Silchar Medical College.

More samples are being collected everyday under the massive drive of sample collection by the surveillance team around the district, said Dr. Veiphai.

Meanwhile, the Dima Hasao district administration and the hospital authorities are shifting all the new patients to the isolation ward at the Haflong Civil Hospital, with special arrangements made for the minor.
