The State Bank of India’s (SBI) main branch in Assam’s Dhubri district has been turned into a containment zone after at least 8 (eight) employees of the branch tested COVID-19 positive. 

The SBI’s Dhubri main branch will remain as a containment zone for the next seven days. 

Dhubri deputy commissioner cum chairman of district disaster management authority (DDMA) – Anbamuthan MP – declared the bank premises as a containment zone and ordered it to be sealed with immediate effect “for next seven days” to prevent further spread of infection in the area. 

“Any unauthorised entry and exit into the notified containment zone is barred till the area is declared safe as per the guidelines. Any movement of any unauthorised individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect,” said an order.

“In view of detection of 8 (eight) COVID-19 positive cases amongst the employees of SBI Dhubri Main Branch against samples collected on 27/12/2021, it is felt necessary to immediately seal the SBI Dhubri Main Branch premises as per SOP for COVID-19 in the interest of Public Health,” said the order. 

The order further said: “SBI Dhubri Main Branch premises where the COVID-19 positive persons were working till 29/12/2021 is hereby notified as Containment Zone for 7/seven) days w.e.f. 30/12/2021.”
