Assam’s COVID-19 count on Thursday inched closer to one lakh mark with an increase of 2,036 new cases, while the death toll has risen to 278 with four persons succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
A total of 2036 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 98,807.
On the other hand four persons—one each from Kamrup (M), Darrang, Baksa and Dibrugarh district– succumbed to the disease.

The total cases include 19,219 active cases, nearly 79,307 recoveries and 278 deaths, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in three tweets.
The state’s positivity rate is at 5.75%.
On Thursday, as many as 2,345 persons were discharged from Covid-care centres after they tested negative.
“Glad that number of discharged patients is now 80% of total cases!,” Sarma said.
