Digboi: With the Assam Assembly elections approaching, the Indian National Congress is emerging as a resurgent force in Digboi, demonstrating strong organisational discipline, grassroots outreach, and growing public traction. The partyโ€™s efforts to reconnect with voters and strengthen its booth-level machinery were on full display at a massive training camp held on Wednesday at the Luit Shilpi Samaj auditorium, widely seen as a sign of Congressโ€™s accelerating poll momentum.

Organised by the Digboi Block Congress Committee under directives from Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi, the programme brought together nearly 400 key functionaries, including mandal presidents, booth committee heads, and booth-level agents. The scale and disciplined participation underscored the partyโ€™s readiness to translate organisational strength into electoral success at the grassroots level.

Addressing the gathering, Digboi Block Congress president Vishnu Jaiswal stated that the party has consolidated its base across the constituency and is entering the election phase with confidence. He outlined a structured election roadmap and emphasised that continuous training, coordination, and direct voter engagement have positioned the Congress strongly ahead of the polls.

The session was led by AICC representative Ayush Pandey, whose address set a determined political tone. Urging party workers to take the campaign decisively to the streets, Pandey called for an expansion of the Congressโ€™s door-to-door outreach programme. He noted that public sentiment in Digboi is increasingly shifting in Congressโ€™s favour amid growing dissatisfaction with the BJP.

โ€œTo secure a decisive mandate, we must deepen our connection with the people and speak honestly about their realities,โ€ Pandey said. He criticised the BJP for failing voters on promises regarding scheduled tribes and wage hikes for tea garden workers, and highlighted governance shortcomings, including lapses in the Jal Jeevan Mission, as evidence of the ruling partyโ€™s disconnect from the grassroots.

APCC secretary Pali Hazarika reinforced the message of unity and discipline, stressing that the Congressโ€™s collective strength and organisational cohesion would be key in the upcoming elections. She urged workers to remain aligned with the partyโ€™s people-centric agenda.

The presence of all Congress ticket aspirants from the Digboi Assembly constituency was interpreted as a strong signal of internal unity and electoral seriousness, dispelling any speculation of factionalism and presenting the party as marching in unison.

Political observers note that trends on the ground increasingly favour the Congress. Any move by the BJP to replace the incumbent Digboi MLA could weaken its position further, while Congress is strategically positioned to capitalise on voter sentiment and secure the seat with a strong mandate.

The Digboi training camp forms part of a broader statewide Congress strategy to energise its cadre, strengthen booth-level structures, and rebuild public trust through sustained peopleโ€™s contact programmes.

With organisational momentum on its side and public sentiment shifting, the Congress appears poised for a strong electoral comeback in Digboi, potentially playing a decisive role in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
