DIBRUGARH: Senior BJP leader and former Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched a scathing attack on the opposition while seeking support for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections at public gatherings on Tuesday (April 09).

Sarbananda Sonowal has accused the Congress-led opposition in Assam of “sowing seeds of division along religious lines”.

Addressing gatherings, Sarbananda Sonowal asserted, “The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been tirelessly working towards uplifting every section of society and enhancing the quality of life.”

“The opposition, led by the Congress, has nothing to criticize. We have provided inclusive governance through holistic societal development. Unfortunately, the Congress-led opposition is sowing seeds of division along religious lines, which is extremely unfortunate, confusing, unhealthy, and detrimental to political discourse and harmony,” said Sonowal.

As a prominent BJP leader contesting from the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal continued, “People in Northeast suffered immensely under six decades of Congress misrule, but in the last 10 years, there has been a sincere effort to enhance the quality of life for all.”

“Citizens must remain vigilant against parties that aim to sow seeds of division on religious lines. We are all equals in society, regardless of our faith. Let us not fall prey to the opposition’s conspiracy to divide us based on religion,” said Sonowal.
