The Assam Congress has given an ultimatum to controversial MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed for his recent comments and actions till December 30.
Speaking to the media, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president, Bhupen Borah said that they have given a notice to Sherman Ali to reply to their show cause in writing.
Borah said that Sherman has been given time till December 30 and based on the reply, the decision related to him in the party will be taken.
Earlier the Baghbor legislator Sherman Ali Ahmed had alleged that the Congress leaders asked him to stop speaking about minority issues if he wanted his suspension from the Congress to be revoked.
Sherman Ali was recently suspended from Congress for his alleged “communal and provocative” remarks. He was also arrested for the same reason and is currently out on bail.
Sherman said that APCC president Bhupen Bora has asked him not to speak to the media and also has asked him to not speak about the minority issues.
He added, “Congress is a secular party but this condition seems to be quite disturbing. I do not understand how could Bhupen Bora put such a condition.”
However, APCC president, Bhupen Borah did speak anything about these conditions in front of the media.
