The Congress staged a protest rally at Lakhimpur in Assam over the sky-rocketing prices of petrol and diesel.
Top Congress leaders including Assam Congress Chief Ripun Bora and Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi also took part in the protest rally.
The Congress party took out a massive rally at Bihpuria’s Dhalpur in Lakhimpur district of Assam in protest against the high prices of petrol and diesel and other essential commodities.
The Assam Congress has demanded the BJP-led State government to control hike in prices of essential commodities in the State.
The prices of petrol and diesel in Guwahati as of today stands at Rs 86.46 per litre, and Rs 80.62 per litre respectively.
Notably, despite being home to as many as 4 oil refineries, petrol and diesel prices in Assam is more than that in the neighbouring State of Meghalaya, which has no oil refinery.

The Congress in Assam have been raising several key issues including recent hike in prices of petrol and diesel as part of their election campaigning.
Elections to the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly is likely to take place in April.
