The Assam Congress further ‘guaranteed’ creation of a separate department for providing jobs to the unemployed youths of Assam.

This new department would come to be known as  Ministry of Jobs, said Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi.

“This new ministry will be accountable as there will be a separate minister for it,” said Pradyut Bordoloi.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Sushmita Dev has said that once Congress returns to power, 50 percent reservations for jobs would be made for women in the State.

“49 percent of voters Assam are female. Women must be given equal opportunity to contribute in the overall development of State,” said Sushmita Dev.

The Assam Congress further hit out at the ruling BJP Government for making ‘impractical’ promises of giving 25 lakh jobs to the youths of Assam ahead of the 2016 Assembly elections in State.

“We don’t believe in making impractical promises. 25 lakh jobs were promised by the BJP in 2016. They failed,” said Assam Congress chief Ripun Bora.

“We are giving a guarantee of 5 lakh jobs for the youths of Assam if the Assam Congress is voted to power,” added Ripun Bora.
