Assam has registered 3,592 new COVID19 positive cases on Tuesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,77,221.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Tuesday said the new COVID19 cases have been detected out of more than 1 lakh tests.

“3592 COVID cases detected out of 134570 tests,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

The health minister lauded the health teams of the state for carrying out the tests.

“I am so proud that second day in a row, our teams carried out an incredibly 1 lakh plus tests. I admire their tenacity and commitment,” Sarma tweeted.

Assam’s positivity rate stands at 2.67%, Sarma informed.

A total of 1,42,297 patients have recovered from the disease in the state.

The state currently has 34,241 active COVID19 cases.

On Tuesday, 13 more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 680.

In an earlier tweet, the health minister informed that 2 persons each died of COVID19 infection in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Jorhat and Dhubri district while 1 each patient has died of the infection in Sivasagar, Nalbari, Darrang, Majuli and Kokrajhar districts.
