Fourteen more individuals were tested COVID-19 positive on Tuesday evening in Assam’s Sonitpur district.

Notably, among the 14 persons, 13 are employees of Solmara Army Cantonment.

Following the increase in COVID-19 positive cases, the district administration has till date declared 11 areas as containment zones in the district.

The district administration informed this correspondent that the active containment zones are Hirajuli TE (Dhekiajuli), Ward No3 Rangapara, No1 Dolabari (Tezpur), Bhojkhowa (Tezpur), Kewarichuk (Jamuguri Nagsankar), Chanmari (Tezpur), Mazgaon Marabharalipar (Tezpur), Namonigaon (Rangapara), Keherukhunda (Dhekiajuli), Japikhujiya, BP Tiniali (near Tezpur) and Ward No3, Bortal Road (Dhekiajuli).

Meanwhile, in Rangapara town area a sharp reaction is triggered among the people following alleged violation of containment zone norms under COVID-19 protocol.

In the town, a total of 14 persons were tested COVID-19 positive.

At the same time, people alleged that though as per containment zone norms under the COVID-19 protocol entry to the area is strictly prohibited, one Sanjit Saha (Sonu) violating all sort of restrictions entered a containment zone with a loaded truck which irked the people of the area and asked the administration to take necessary steps against such violations.
