Assam on Tuesday touched the 8 lakh-mark of COVID19 tests.

Sharing a chart of the COVID19 tests conducted in different laboratories across Assam on his Twitter handle, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said:  “We started our journey with the first test for COVID19 on 7th February. And today we have accomplished eight lacs test.”

After setting up the first lab to conduct COVID19 test on February 7, a total of 1 lakh tests were conducted up to May 30 within 114 days and till then, a total of 7 labs were set up in the state.

From May 30 to June 13, Assam completed 2 lakh tests within 13 days and till then the state managed to have a total of 11 labs.

From June 13 to June 22, within 10 days, Assam was able to achieve 3 lakh COVID19 tests and till then the state managed to have a total of 12 labs.

In the next 7 days, from June 22-30, Assam was able to accomplish a total of 4 lakh tests.

From June 30 to July 9, the Assam government set up one more lab to conduct COVID19 test and within 9 days, the state completed 5 lakh tests.

Assam was able to conduct 1 lakh more COVID19 tests within 7 days from July 9-16.

The efforts of the Assam’s health team led by health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma continued and within next 6 days, 2 more labs were set up in the state to conduct more COVID19 tests.

From July 16-22, Assam was able to accomplish a total of 7 lakh tests.

Within next 6 days, from July 22-28, Assam set up 2 more labs, taking the total labs in the state to 17 and completed 8 lakh COVID19 tests on Tuesday.

Assam so far has registered a total of 34,947 COVID19 positive cases including 8,238 active cases while 3 cases migrated from the state.

While 26,618 patients have recovered, the deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 88 people in Assam.
