He said this while addressing the media at the NHM office in Guwahati on Friday.

This has been done due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Kamrup (Metro).

Earlier on Thursday, Sarma’s deputy Pijush Hazarika had indicated that the State Government may be forced to impose complete lockdown of Guwahati if people do not abide by the COVID-19 protocols and things go out of hand.

“If the cases continue to rise and people remain apathetic to our calls to abide by the Covid-19 protocols, a lockdown would be the only solution. As of now, the city-wide lockdown is under active consideration,” he had said.
