North Lakhimpur: A college teacher engaged in Lok Sabha election duty died in a road mishap in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on Saturday.
Rajib Lekharu, 57, an esteemed Assistant Professor at Bihpuria College, met with the accident on Saturday while returning home after fulfilling his duty as Presiding Officer during the elections.

The unfortunate incident occurred at Mazgaon on NH-15, near Silaneebari Police Outpost, approximately 10 kilometers from his home, around 4:45 am.
The vehicle he was driving, a Honda City (AS07J 3766), collided with a bus, resulting in his death on the spot.
Professor Lekharu was en route to Bihpuria after conscientiously submitting polling materials at North Lakhimpur following the successful completion of voting during the first phase of LS polls on April 19.
