GUWAHATI: Allegations of sexual harassment were levelled against the principal of Swahid Jadav Nath Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital, located in Panjabari locality of Guwahati in Assam, by two female students on Thursday (March 14).

A case has been filed, and investigations are currently underway regarding the matter.

The principal of the college has been accused of sexual misconduct by the two students, who filed a complaint (numbered 9/24) at the Panbazar All Women Police Station under sections 354(A) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), alleging acts constituting sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.

Prompted by the complaints, the police have initiated an investigation into the allegations against the accused principal.

Simultaneously, the victims have sought the intervention of the Assam State Commission for Women to address the issue.

However, despite the allegations, the lack of substantial evidence against the accused has hindered the police from taking immediate action against the principal.

In response to the situation, the students’ union of the college has expressed unawareness of the incident.

The general secretary of the students’ union emphasized that if the allegations are proven true, appropriate punishment should be meted out to all perpetrators involved.

As investigations continue, authorities are working to ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations and ensure justice for the victims.
