The Chief Minister’s Vigilance & Anti-corruption Cell of Assam caught two police officers posted at Gauripur police station of Dhubri district on Wednesday evening.

The arrested police officers have been identified as Satyajit Borthakur, officer-in-charge of Gauripur police station and Abu Kalam Azad, assistant sub-inspector of the same police station in Assam’s Dhubri district.

According to preliminary reports, the police officials have been arrested on the basis of complaints lodged by a number of persons before the Chief Minister’s Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell.

A team of Chief Minister’s Vigilance & Anti-corruption Cell from Guwahati launched an operation and caught the two police officers red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from a complainant.

The Vigilance and Anti-corruption team seized the money from the possession of the accused police officers.

“Further investigation is on,” police sources said.
