Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal  on Monday appreciated the noble gesture of Special Olympics Champion swimmer Anyatam Rajkumar who donated Rs 5000 to the Chief Minister Relief’s Fund in order to help the flood affected people in the State.

Sonowal stated on his official Twitter handle,” Touched by the gesture of Special Olympics champion swimmer Sh. Anyatam Rajkumar as he donated ? 5,000 to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood relief measures. Anyatam is an inspiration to our society & I salute his indomitable spirit. My best wishes for his future endeavours”.

Anyatam who was affected by Down Syndrome since his birth won a gold medal in swimming  in Special Olympics World Summer Games at Los Angeles in 2015.

A resident of Guwahati, Anyatam also bagged a silver medal at the Special Olympics Asia Pacifc Games in Australia in 2013.

He was a former student of South Point School of Guwahati

Eminent gastroenterologist Bhabadev Goswami  on Monday contributed Rs 1 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister Relief’s Fund.

The cheque of Rs 1 lakh was handed over to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Janata Bhawan on Monday.
