Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the Commissionerate of Taxes to strengthen its ‘team’ to unearth the problems faced by the businessmen at the grass-root level.
The chief minister asked the commissionerate to bring adequate awareness about the single window tax system in the post-GST regime to help creation of more disciplined taxpayers in the state.

The CM said this while chairing a meeting to assess the GST rollout and its contribution to the state economy.
Sonowal said the Commmissionerate of Taxes should intensify its reach and access to educate people more on the relatively new tax regime to weed out any encumbrances faced by the tax payers.
He also sought the need for strengthening the monitoring system of the commissionerate on the tax payment.

Sonowal asked the commissionerate to recognise the sincere and dedicated taxpayers and acknowledge their timely tax payment with commendation letters.
Chief minister Sonowal also stressed the need of intensifying the vigilantism on the part of tax commissionerate so that it can plug the holes against tax evasion.
Chief secretary Alok Kumar, additional chief secretary for home and political Kumar Sanjay Krishna, additional chief secretary for finance Rajib Bora, principal secretary to the chief minister Sanjay Lohiya, principal secretary for finance Sameer Singha, commissioner of taxes Anurag Goel and other officers were present at the meeting.
