Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday apprised union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan about the incidents of the gas explosion at oilfields in Baghjan, Tinsukia.
Sonowal urged Pradhan to take immediate remedial measures to assuage the situation.
The union minister assured of all possible support in this regard.
Sonowal also spoke to OIL CMD Sushil Chandra Mishra and discussed the situation arising out of the gas explosion incidents.
The CM urged Mishra to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of public health in the vicinity of oilfields explosion while stopping gas leakage at the earliest to prevent any further damage.
The Chief Minister also directed the Chairman of Assam Pollution Control Board Y Suryanarayana to visit the site of the incident.
Likewise, CMD OIL Sushil Chandra Mishra would visit the Baghjan oilfields on Saturday along with the chairman of Assam Pollution Control Board to take stock of the situation and take remedial measures.
