Altogether 1,669 cadres of the now-defunct National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were presented financial package on Monday in Kokrajhar.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the cheques in the presence of BTR chief executive member Pramod Boro.

Altogether 1669 cadres including 1122 from Kokrajhar, 513 from Chirang district and 34 from Goalpara were handed over the cheques for their effective rehabilitation.

Former NDFB leader and BTC executive member B R Ferengra alias Ranjit Basumatary said till now 4203 former NDFB cadres have been rehabilitated.

He said 1952 more are to be rehabilitated which include 1561 from Saoraigwra group, 163 from Govinda Basumatary group, 184 from Ranjan Daimary faction and 20 from Dhiren Boro group.

He also informed that there are a total of 1586 cases against the former NDFB cadres in various police stations across the state of which more than 200 have been solved.

Addressing the gathering, chief minister Sarma said the government is duty-bound for proper implementation of the Bodo Accord in letter and spirit.

He said many clauses like rehabilitation and withdrawal of cases of former NDFB cadres are being done or being worked out.

After the signing of the peace accord, a total of 1615 cadres of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) laid down their arms on January 30, 2020.

As per Bodo Peace Accord, 2020, rehabilitation of former NDFB cadres has begun.

Chief Minister Sarma on Sunday presented financial assistance to 1,105 ex- NDFB cadres in Tamulpur.
