Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has assured ‘justice’ to the family of the 9-year-old rape and murder victim in Morigaon district. 

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed Morigaon SP – Aparna Natarajan to expedite probe into the case and nab the culprits. 

“Took stock of the ongoing investigation in the case. Instructed the SP Morigaon to expedite investigations and nab the culprits,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said. 

He added: “The family should get justice fast and it should act as a deterrent against commission of crime against women.”

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma along with MP Dilip Saikia, Morigaon MLA Ramakanta Deuri and Lahorighat MLA Dr Asif Mohammad Nagar visited the home of the victim on Friday and interacted with the grieving family.  

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “Every life is precious! What happened in Bhuragaon, Morigaon to a religious minority 9-yr-old girl was very unfortunate. I met with parents of the girl and assured them that perpetrators of this heinous crime won’t be spared. We’ll not tolerate such atrocities.” 

Body of the 9-year-old girl, who hails from Balidunga village under Bhuragaon police station in Morigaon district, was found in a field near the Brahmaputra River on June 20.  

It is being suspected that the minor girl was raped and then murdered.
