GUWAHATI: Leaders, cutting across party lines, including Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, have united in condemning the terror attack that took place at Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday (May 04).

The Poonch terror attack resulted in the death of one Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his outrage, stating that those responsible for the cowardly act will be brought to justice.

“I vehemently denounce the cowardly assault on the IAF convoy in Poonch by terrorists, resulting in injuries to four courageous Air Force personnel,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

He added: “Wishing them a swift and complete recovery. Those responsible for this atrocious act will face the full force of justice.”

The terror attack took place at Sanai village that led to the injured personnel swiftly being transported to the Command Hospital in Udhampur.

Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

After the assault, the nearby Rashtriya Rifles unit launched cordon and search operations in the area, backed by the Army and police, in pursuit of the attackers.

Confirming the incident, the Indian Air Force (IAF) released a tweet, affirming the safety of the targeted convoy and highlighting the ongoing investigative efforts.
