Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday met state Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan and apprised him of the prevailing situation that the State is going through especially in view of COVID-19 and flood that are hurtling the state very hard.

The meeting though was one of a routine one, the duo that is the head of the government and the head of the state, talked at length on the COVID-19 situation and the flood that hit the state hard.

Chief minister Sonowal briefed the Governor about the current spike of positive cases of COVID-19 in the State and the response of the government in terms of medical facilities like number of COVID-19 beds, ventilator units and ICU beds etc.

The duo also talked on increasing economic activities in spite of coronavirus inflicted lockdown in the State to strengthen the fiscal health of the State.

With regard to the seasonal flood that has already hit some districts of the State, chief minister Sonowal apprised the Governor of the government’s response in dealing with the situation.

He also told him that all the districts that are prone to flood have been alerted to keep their men and materials ready for relief and rescue operations.

He also told him that the SDRF has been alerted to reach out to the people if the flood situation aggravates in the State.
