Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday asked the youths of the State to emulate the love of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for the nation and work for the nation’s development.

While speaking at the 122nd birth day celebrations of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Netaji Chowk in Paltan Bazar here on Wednesday, Sonowal said the principle set by Netaji through his sheer dedication and perseverance is a source of pride and prestige for the people of the country.

This freedom fighter has given a unique identity to India in the global forum, he said.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the fountain of patriotism, sacrifice, courage and valour which the younger generation should study.

Sonowal said, “The young generation should study and emulate the Nataji’s love for the nation.”

He also stated Subhash Chandra Bose was an extraordinary personality who left behind all his material pleasures to dedicate himself on the duty of the nation, that is freeing the nation from the clutch of the foreign domination.

The Assam CM also urged upon the teachers and parents to encourage their students and wards to study the life and philosophy of Subhash Chandra Bose.

He also said the Assamese society must take a pledge to build the state on the high perch of morality and patriotism of Nataji’s dream.

Chief Minister Sonowal said Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was an ardent follower of Swami Vivekananda who influenced him greatly.

He also stated Netaji wanted equal development of both man and woman and therefore, put emphasis on empowerment of women.

Sonowal also said in line with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s belief in youth power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also encouraged his government to take several programmes based on science and technology for the empowerment of youth.

The Assam CM said based on the principle of Netaji for a multicultural society, government of Assam has also concentrated on strengthening the unity in diversities in the state.

He also said the mantra of unity propagated by Dr. Bhupean Hazarika and Hemanga Biswas has to be promoted and propagated for an Assam which will be strong in all aspects. Earlier, Chief Minister Sonowal also paid floral tributes to Nataji.
