Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal‘s vision ‘Clean and Green Village’ under MyGov Assam initiative was formally launched on Thursday in Kokrajhar district.

This was launched at Maorigaon village under Titaguri Development Block  by the eminent  environmentalist and brand ambassador of Environment and  Forest Department, Assam, Chandrakanta Basumatary in a function held at North Maorigaon L P School premises.

On the occasion, Chandrakanta Basumatary expressed pleasure to have the opportunity to declare Maorigaon village as one of the villages wherein Clean and Green Village mission would be implemented.

He said that every villagers of Maorigaon were fortunate to have this kind of mission first in the district, but it should be the responsibility of everyone to strive towards making of their village clean and green one for healthy environment.

Appealing people to change their behaviour in keeping their surroundings clean he further said, “Every individual has an important role to play to bring change in the mindset of the people; and change must begin from each home.”

As such, attending the programme, the official of MyGov Assam Himjyoti Talukdar highlighted the concept of ‘Clean and Green Village’ and imbibed a sense of responsibility amongst the villagers on maintaining eco-friendly and hazard-free environment.

The MyGov Assam team also interacted with the villagers and took stock of the problems and grievances of them. They assured of taking the villagers’ problems to the office of the Chief Minister for early solution through this mission.

In his speech, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Niranjan Baruah thanked the villagers for having selected for this mission.

He assured that the Maorigaon will now become model of cleanliness in the district through this noble initive of the government.

During the programme, sports goods were distributed to the sports club and ornamental and food bearing tree saplings were planted by the dignitaries.
