The city buses in Guwahati were found to be flouting the Unlock 3.0 norms and guidelines on Monday after the Assam government decided to lift the lockdown partially.

As per the new guidelines, the city buses should ply with 5 per cent of their capacity, however, it was seen that the city buses were with full capacity.

The social distancing norm went for a toss.

During a meeting with the bus owners’ association, the transport department asked the owners to run the buses via city roads while going to Khanapara from Basistha and use the highway in the return journey.

The owners, however, opposed the request and decided to suspend 300 buses in the Basistha-Khanapara route.
