Talking to Northeast Now on Sunday, Jitu Saikia, president of the Dibrugarh district committee of the Chutia Students’ Union said, “We have called for a ‘bandh’ of the buses, which regularly ply under Network Travels towards Guwahati from Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.”

“The owner of Network Travels assured us to provide two of their buses for our organisation’s foundation day programme to be held at Guwahati on September 11, but now he has intimated that he would be able to provide the buses as assured,” added Saikia.

“If he (owner of Network Travels) can’t provide the buses for the people, then why did he give assurances?” he asked.

It may be noted that everyday, a huge number of people travel towards Guwahati in Network buses.

The bandh of Network buses is likely to cause huge problem for the commuters.

“We are dissatisfied at the act of the owner of Network Travels as even after giving assurance, he has failed to provide us the buses to carry the people to Guwahati where the 11th foundation day of our organisation will be celebrated. This time the event will be held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati,” added Saikia.
