Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday reviewed the on-going National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) projects in the State.
Sonowal held a high-level meeting with NHIDCL officials in New Delhi on Thursday.
During the course of the discussion, Assam Chief Minister took stock of the prevailing condition of various roads and highways in the State.
The Chief Minister directed the NHIDCL officials to expedite repair works of roads damaged due to incessant rain during the on-going monsoon season.
Stressing on the importance of all-weather roads, the Chief Minister directed the officials to make optimal use of manpower along with latest technologies in carrying out repair works.
Urging officials to expeditiously prepare all detailed project reports and required planning for beginning of works, Assam Chief Minister Sonowal proposed utilization of the services of skilled local youth recruitment for timely completion of projects.
The Chief Minister also urged NHIDCL officials to carry out plantation drives on both sides of the highways with various horticultural plants and plants having medicinal properties.
