A central inter-ministerial team has assessed the damages caused by floods and landslides in the districts of Bongaigaon, Chirang and Lakhimpur in Assam. 

Meanwhile, the Assam government has urged the central team for release of funds for repair and restoration works.

The Assam government has requested the team for release of Rs 1088.19 crore it had sought for repair and restoration works, a statement issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said. 

“The state government urged the central team to consider releasing funds under the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for restoration of damages during current year flood,” the statement added.

The central inter-ministerial team from New Delhi, on Wednesday, concluded a two-day visit to Lakhimpur after inspecting flood affected areas of the district. 

The visited the flood-affected areas of Hatilung, Joihing, Mohaijan, Hindugaon, Dolahat, Pachnoi, Balitika, Phukan Doloni and Pandhowa areas in Lakhimpur district and inspected the damages caused by the floods. 

The team also interacted with flood affected families of the district.
