Assam: Cash-for-jobs scam accused Dr Ajanta Hazarika suspended from AMCH

Accused in a cash-for-jobs scam Dr Ajanta Hazarika from Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH) has been suspended from duty.

She has been suspended from the posts of Additional Superintendent of AMCH and Deputy Superintendent of proposed Tinsukia Medical College.

Dr Ajanta Hazarika was serving in the AMCH as a Resident Surgeon of Plastic Surgery.

Superintendent of the AMCH, Dr Prashanta Dihingia informed that Dr Hazarika’s suspension order has been issued by the Additional Secretary for Health, Assam.

Dr Ajanta Hazarika is currently in judicial custody after Dibrugarh Police arrested her in connection with case relating to taking money from aspirants by making promises of providing jobs in the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railways.

Notably, bail petitions of both Dr Ajanta Hazarika and her husband Simanta Jyoti Saikia were rejected by the Court of Chief Judicial magistrate, Dibrugarh on January 11.

The kingpin of a cash-for-Job scam job and AMCH doctor, Dr Ajanta Hazarika, surrendered before the CJM Court in Dibrugarh on December 28, 2020.

Dr Hazarika was evading arrest in connection with a case (No. 2150/20), registered at the Dibrugarh Police Station.

Dr Ajanta Hazarika allegedly took Rs 22 lakh from three job aspirants from Dibrugarh by making false promises of providing jobs in the NF Railways.
