The artiste who is looked upon as a youth icon loves to court controversy and in keeping with this has  openly denounced the Brahman community saying that they should be beaten and that he himself had torn the sacred thread (janeu) worn by Brahmins and some other castes.

The complaint by Rajiv Barbora and Manoj Bhagawati, president and secretary respectively of Jorhat branch of the Council stated that Zubeen Garg had expressed his intent to harm the Brahmin community and that proper action should be taken against him.

The FIR further alleged that he had insulted the National language as well and that he was influencing the youth to take narcotic substances.

Barbora said that the community at large had been insulted and their sentiments hurt.

A fan who did not want to be named alleged that this was a well planned move to attract attention ahead of the launching of Zubeen Gang’s movie Kanchenjunga.
