Police on Tuesday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in western Assam’s Chirang district.
Acting on intelligence input, a team of police led by Chirang Additional Superintendent of Police (Head Quarter) launched a search operation at Khagrabari area under Runikhata police station on Tuesday morning.
During the operation, police recovered a large number of arms-ammunition which kept concealed under the ground.
Police recovered one HK series rifle with magazine, one AK series rifle with two magazines, one Uzi type factory made firearm with two magazines, two pistols with magazines, two Chinese hand grenades, 93 rounds of AK series rifle ammunition, 25 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition and other incriminating materials.
Earlier, police had recovered huge cache of arms, ammunition, explosives in Kokrajhar and Udalguri district under Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).
On Sunday , Kokrajhar district police had recovered one MMG, five AK-56 rifles with four magazines, one INSAS rifle with magazine, three 9 mm pistols with five magazines, one .22 Chinese gun with two magazines, one MMG chain, one hand grenade, 244 rounds of AK series rifle ammunition, 23 rounds of INSAS rifle ammunition, six rounds of 9 mm ammunition, five rounds of .22 Chinese gun ammunition from Katlibil jungle area under Gossaigaon police station and Belguri jungle area under Serfanguri police station in the district.
