GUWAHATI: Assam cabinet underwent a major reshuffle on Tuesday (June 18).

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma taken over the health and family welfare portfolio from Keshab Mahanta following the reshuffle in the state’s cabinet.

Besides taking charge as health minister, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also holds the portfolios of home, personnel, public works, medical education and research, and indigenous & tribal faith and culture.

Keshab Mahanta, who previously held the health and family welfare portfolio, has been assigned additional responsibilities.

He will now oversee the transport, excise and fisheries departments, which were previously managed by Parimal Suklabaidya.

It may be mentioned here that Suklabaidya was recently elected as member of the Lok Sabha from Assam.
