GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet has approved a new bill aimed at development of the tourism sector of the Northeast state.

The Assam cabinet approved the Assam Tourism Development and Registration Bill 2024 to regulate the tourism sector in the state.

Informing this, Assam minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said that the bill will be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the state’s assembly.

“This bill will be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the Assam legislative assembly,” Jayanta Malla Baruah said.

He said: “The bill will bring benefits such as ensuring economic growth through the development of tourism in Assam.”

“We could not regulate tourism in the state because we did not have an act. This act will be implemented,” the Assam minister added.

The cabinet meeting was chaired by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (January 31).
