Assam bye-election 2021: BJP leads in 3 Assembly seats, UPPL in 2

The BJP is leading in 3 Assembly seats while the UPPL is leading in 2 seats with the counting of votes for 5 Assembly seats, polled during the Assam bye-election 2021 has been underway since 8 am on Tuesday.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sushanta Borgohain is leading in Thowra seat, party candidates Rupjyoti Kurmi and Phanidhar Talukdar are leading in Mariani and Bhabanipur seats respectively.

In Gossaigaon seat, Jiron Basumatary of BJP ally United People’s Party, Liberal (UPPL) is leading while Jolen Daimary of UPPL is leading in Tamulpur.

According to the latest official update, in the Thowra constituency, BJP’s Sushanta Borgohain is leading by 6586 votes against Raijor Dal candidate Dhaijya Konwar.

In Mariani, BJP candidate Rupjyoti Kurmi is leading by 8865 votes against his nearest rival Luhit Konwar of  Congress.

In Bhabanipur, BJP candidate Phanidhar Talukdar is leading by 13054 votes against Sailendra Nath Das of Congress.

In Gossaigaon, Jiron Basumatary is leading by 7078 votes against his nearest rival, Dhruba Kumar Brahma of
Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF).
