In an effort to encourage and boost agriculture production to farmers, the Department of Agriculture, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) of Assam on Saturday distributed tractors to farmers at a ceremonial function held at Supervisory Training Agriculture Campus in Kokrajhar.

BTC executive member in-charge of Agriculture department Ansumwi Khungur Boro and BTC executive member in-charge of Urban Development Sports & Youth Welfare Doneswar Goyary attended the function and handed over the tractors and accessories to the beneficiaries. A total 16 beneficiaries were distributed the tractors on Saturday.

BTC executive member in-charge of Agriculture department Ansumwi Khungur Boro said a total 66 beneficiaries in the four BTAD districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri will be given the tractors and accessories at 50 per cent subsidy under States Own Priority Development Programme(SOPD) which is aimed at enhancing agricultural production in the BTAD.

Agriculture director cum council head of department M M Swargiary, BTC joint secretary Arun Kumar Basumatary were also present on the occasion.
