Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary’s wife Rashmi Borgoyary died of cancer at a private hospital in Guwahati on Tuesday.

She was 45.

Rashmi Borgoyary was born at Patgaon in Kokrajhar district.

After struggling for life, Rashmi Borgoyary breathed her last in the wee hours on Tuesday.

From Guwahati, her body was taken to Basbari village, the home village of BTC deputy chief and BPF leader Kampa Borgoyary, under Runikhata police station in Chirang district.

A large number of her family relatives, relatives and well-wishers gathered at Basbari village to offer their last tributes to the mortal remains of Rashmi Borgoyary.

Rashmi Borgoyary is survived by Kampa Borgoyary, one son and a daughter.

Sources said Rashmi Borgoyary was also involved in the development activities of the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) region.

She was cremated at Basbari in presence of BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, Assam tourism minister Chandan Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary and all the executive members (EMs) of BTC.

Kampa Borgoyary was consoled by his family members, party leaders and well-wishers at the cremation ground.

Following Rashmi Borgoyary’s demise, condolences continue to pour in.

In the condolence message, shared on his Facebook page, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said: “I am very saddened on the demise of Smt. Rashmi Borgoyary, beloved wife of Deputy Chief of BTC. She was courageously fighting against the deadly Cancer till her last stage.”

Mohilary also said, “with kind soul and smiling face, she treated everyone equally in her days of living”.

“I pray to Almighty for her eternal peace in the heaven and at this hour of grief. My heart and support goes out to the family members,” Mohilary added.

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary on his Facebook page said: “My deepest condolences to Sir Kampa Borgoyary and his family on demise of his wife Smt. Rashmi Borgoyary. Let Almighty give enough strength to overcome this moment of crisis. May her soul rest in peace.”

The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has also expressed their condolence at the demise of Kampa Borgoyary’s wife.

ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary in a statement said: “The departure of the spouse of Kampa Borgoyary, the Deputy Chief of BTC, is very shocking.”

“ABSU devout prayers to the bereaved family and relatives at this sorrowful moment may the departed soul rest in peace,” the ABSU leader said.
