The two BPF leaders joined the saffron party at Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s official residence in Guwahati.

Senior BPF leader and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary and party leader and Tamulpur MLA Emmanuel Mosahary on Sunday formally joined the BJP in Guwahati.

The two BPF leaders joined the saffron party at Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s official residence in Guwahati in the presence of senior BJP leaders including party president Ranjeet Kr Das.

BPF’s lone parliamentarian Biswajit Daimary had on Saturday resigned from Rajya Sabha.

Chief minister Sonowal said the joining of two BPF leaders ahead of the BTC polls will strengthen the party.

Daimary said that the people have sought a change in BTC and the BJP will form the next council.

He further said that several other senior BPF leaders will join hands with the BJP very soon.

BJP MP Dilip Saikia, party leaders Rupam Goswami and Mominul Awal, were present at the programme.
