Dispur Chalo Yatra Assam
A large number of party leaders, workers, and supporters participated in the event, reaffirming their commitment to expanding the party’s base in the region.

Udalguri: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Saturday organised its ‘Dispur Chalo Yatra’ at Udalguri, highlighting the themes of peace, unity, growth, and development among the various communities living across the five districts of Assam’s Bodo belt.

The programme forms part of the party’s campaign to mobilise support ahead of the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections.

The yatra, which began on February 25, is being conducted across several constituencies with the aim of strengthening the party’s grassroots network and consolidating public support in the run-up to the polls.

A large number of party leaders, workers, and supporters participated in the event, reaffirming their commitment to expanding the party’s base in the region. Organisers claimed that nearly 10,000 people attended the gathering.

The programme also witnessed the joining of several leaders from other political parties, including former Bharatiya Janata Party Udalguri district president Sunil Basumatary, former OSD to BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, Raju Dhakal, and former National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) leader and CWC member of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), Dhiren Boro.

Party leaders said the yatra is intended to energise party workers and further strengthen the organisational structure of the BPF ahead of the Assembly elections.

Addressing the gathering, BPF president and former Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Hagrama Mohilary, asserted that the party aims to secure victory in all 15 Assembly seats under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

He said discussions on seat-sharing among NDA partners are yet to be finalised, but the broader goal remains to win all the seats in the region.

Taking a dig at UPPL president Pramod Boro, Mohilary alleged that although the UPPL is part of the NDA, its leadership is self-centred and disconnected from grassroots workers.

“We are confident that the people of BTR will once again place their trust in the Bodoland People’s Front. Our target is clear, to win all 15 Assembly seats in the region under the NDA banner. We will work together and ensure inclusive development,” Mohilary said.

Sources indicated that among the four Assembly constituencies, Bhergaon, Tangla, Udalguri, and Mazbat, the party is likely to leave the Tangla seat to its ally BJP as part of the pre-poll alliance arrangement.
