Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain faced defeat to Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova in the semi-final at the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships in Dubai.
Arjuna Award winner boxer Lovlina Borgohain (69 kg) is from Assam’s Golaghat district.
The 23-year-old boxer won bronze medal at the 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
She won gold at 1st India Open International Boxing Tournament, New Delhi and silver medal at the 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament in Guwahati.

Besides Lovlina Borgohain, another world boxer from Assam, Shiva Thapa has also stormed into the semi-final of the 2021 Asian Boxing Championship in Dubai.
Shiva Thapa, who hails from Guwahati, will face Bakhodur Usmonov of Tajikistan in the 64kg category on Friday.
Thapa has already won four medals in the championships including a gold in 2013, bronze in 2015 and 2019 and silver in 2017.
Meanwhile, six-time world champion and Tokyo-bound boxer Mary Kom reached the final of the women’s 51kg event at the Asian Boxing Championships in Dubai.
She defeated Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg of Mongolia 4-1 on Thursday.
Having won six medals in the Asian Championships, including five gold, the 38-year-old boxer from Manipur, will now be gunning for her sixth gold medal at the continental showpiece.
She will be up against Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay, a two-time world champion.
Indian boxer Simranjit Kaur (60kg) has also faced defeat in the semi-finals of the Asian Boxing Championships.
