Internationally acclaimed boxer from Assam, Lovlina Borgohain has appealed to the people to follow government advisories in order to contain the spread of COVID19.
Lovlina made the appeal through UNICEF.

The international boxer’s appeal comes at a time when Assam has reported 41 COVID19 positive cases with 1 death, India has recorded 33, 050 positive cases with 1074 deaths, and globally, the deadly virus has infected 3.19 million people and claimed 2.28 lakh people.
In a video clip, shared by MyGovAssam (www.assam.mygov.in), boxer Lovlina is seen saying: “Greetings, I’m Lovlina Borgohain, I request all the people of Assam to abide by the instructions set by our administration as these instructions have been set to protect us.”
Making an appeal to support the government in their fight against COVID19 pandemic, Lovlina said: “We should support our government in the fight. We should help the authorities in this fight against coronavirus.”

Requesting the people to stay home, the boxer said, “We should stay back t home and stay healthy.”

Assam boxer Lovlina (69kg) qualified for Tokyo Olympics (which has been rescheduled for next year due to coronavirus) by advancing to the semifinals of the continental qualifiers at Amman in Jordan.
The International Olympic Committee has earmarked the date of July 23, 2021, for the Tokyo Olympics to begin after being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Lovlina won a gold medal at the first India Open International Boxing Tournament held in New Delhi and a silver medal at the 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament held in Guwahati.
