The Tangla police on Thursday recovered the body of a middle-aged man, which was floating in Naika river just below the Naika bridge in the heart of Tangla town in Udalguri district.

According to reports, the locals spotted the body and informed the police.

The police later retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem to Udalguri Civil Hospital.

“We have retrieved the body and are investigating the matter and also looking if any missing reports are lodged in the neighbouring areas,” said a police officer.

He further added that the body will be kept in the morgue for 72 hours for identification.
