The body of a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound on his back was found from a clump of bushes in upper Assam’s Jorhat district.
Mariani police recovered the body near Nagajanka tea estate on Saturday evening. A handmade gun was recovered from near the body.
Police sources said the boy, son of a tea garden worker, Anil Phulmali, resided at the Nagajanka tea estate labour line.
The boy had left his house at about 2 pm on Saturday to go to the market. A search was conducted by people of the locality late in the evening when the boy did not return.
His blood-soaked body was found at 8 pm by the people who immediately informed the police at Mariani Police station.
The body was sent to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) for post-mortem examination.
