The Bodoland Students’ Union (BSU), the student wing of the ruling Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) denied involvement of its members in the attack on three ABSU workers on the last hours of polling in the third phase election on April 23 last in Kokrajhar town of Assam.

Addressing reporters at a pressmeet in Kokrajhar on Monday, BSU president Swgwmshar Basumataty said the BSU has nothing to do with the incident and its members were not at all involved in the attack as alleged by the All Bodo Students’ Union.

He said the allegation is an attempt to bring blame and defamation on the BSU and the allegation is totally baseless and is not acceptable at all.

The Bodoland Students’ Union president also stated that the ABSU members were, in fact, trying to carry out ragging  in the voting centres, as a result, they were beaten up by the public by a mob where the president of BSU and other BPF leaders and supporters were not involved.

It is to be noted that three ABSU workers identified as Ratan Basumatary, (22), Dhrubajit Brahma, (29), Kwrwmdao Mushahary, (23) were seriously injured when they were attacked by miscreants allegedly BPF and BSU members on the evening of April23 last around 5 pm.

The ABSU has registered an FIR U/sections 147/325/307/427 of the IPC.

The All Bodo Student Union (ABSU) has demanded immediately arrest of the culprits involved in the assaults of three ABSU workers.
