Guwahati: A startling story has come to light about how BJP leaders and workers are trying to lure women voters to vote for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in exchange for government beneficiary schemes violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the elections.
The incident took place in some villages under Boko Revenue Circle in Kamrup district.
BJP leaders have been allegedly distributing three forms of government schemes mentioned as “Socio-Economic Survey Form” to include the families in the government beneficiary schemes just after the elections.
The first form headline starts as “Socio-Economy Survey No 1 of Bharatiya Janata Party, Assam State for the ‘Orunodoi’ scheme” for those who have already received ration cards.
It is also alleged that the BJP workers filled up the forms themselves, where they filled up the beneficiary ration card number, address, mobile number, etc in the form.
The forms have the BJP party symbol and pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The second form also has the same headline as the first form and mentions Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and also gives details, “Your ration card is an impenetrable safety shield for your family.
The BJP government has offered free health care services under the Ayushman Card to every family with a ration card. In addition, free life insurance and accident insurance will be provided to the family’s main breadwinner. From now on, it is planned to take full responsibility for the annual premiums of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.”
In this form, BJP workers fill up the beneficiary’s name, bank account details, etc.
The third form is the Million Moina Scheme, which mentioned that the BJP-led government has taken various schemes for the advancement of women’s society. To admission and the progress class of women’s education, one-time financial assistance of 10,000 for girls students who have passed the Class X exam, 12,500 for those girls who passed high Secondary, and Rs 25,000 for those girls students who passed graduate schemes have been taken and for this seeking cooperation in the survey required for the implementation of this scheme.
Congress candidate for the Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency, Mira Borthakur Goswami said that the main objective of distribution of such forms among village women is to garner support for the BJP ahead of the elections.
When contacted, Boko Block BJP general secretary Lachit Kalita said five survey forms were distributed among the villages as these schemes will be implemented after the Lok Sabha election.
Such distribution of forms is going on at the very nose of government officials.
When contacted, Boko Circle officer and election officer Dibash Bordoloi said that he would inform the Kamrup district in charge of the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ ADC Nitya Binod Wary and take necessary action.
